Thank YOU, Professor - A Wise Owl

Each of us have people that come into our lives that make a difference.  Individuals that inspire you to work harder, learn more and be better.  Just like the wise owl in The Sword in the Stone.   This past spring, I had a professor that did just that.  He challenged me to grow as a person.  So, when the end of the semester came, I wanted to show him just how much his tutelage meant to me. What better than a card?

This professor always dressed the part.  Every day coming to class in shined shoes and a tie.  In honor of his impressive style choices, I made a dress shirt and tie card.  I wanted to reflect his personality and preferences.  I must admit that I tied a fair number of paper ties before I finally landed on the following.  Either way, it is now out of my hands and in his.  A BIG thank you again, Professor!

Materials:
  • Paper: Kraft, DCWV Cardstock
  • Accessories: Brads, Tim Holtz Paper Clips
  • Fiskars: Paper Trimmer
  • Adhesive: Fabritac and a Glue Stick

Materials:
  • Paper: Kraft, DCWV Paper Pack
  • Stamps: Unity Stamp Company
  • Ink: Memento Black and White, Copic Markers
  • Embellishments: Self Adhesive Gems and Tim Hotlz Chip Board
  • Other: Fiskars Trimmer and Rounded Corner Punch

Feeling Happy - The Return

After a year's hiatus, I am back with a crafting vengeance.  I am refreshed and ready to make-up for some lost time.  But first, below are some pictures from the last year showing some of the exploits that took me away from crafting.

It's been a glorious year but it is time to get back in to the groove of crafting.  Below is a card I made for a friend's birthday.  She's one of the most important people in my life and was a great way to restart my crafting fever.

Materials:
  • DCWV Cardstock, Kraft Paper
  • Fiskars Trimmer and Corner Punch
  • Fabritac
  • Twinery Twine
  • Self Adhesive Gems

The Painted Cork

Hello Gang!

It feels like it has been forever since my last post, which it has, let's be honest. I've had some major life changes happen that diminished my crafting time substantially. However, I still manage to have a little fun every now and again.

A friend of mine and I tried out The Painted Cork, which is an adorable "adult" paint by numbers experience with an added bonus of WINE and snacks. I would highly suggest giving it a try. I am NOT a painter by any means and had a blast. If you start disliking how your project is turning out, just have another drink! ;)

Fiskateers - Orange Blog Hop

Welcome to the Third Annual Fiskateers ORANGE Blog Hop!

If you're hopping along, you should have come from GroovyDeb.  (If you are joining us in the middle, go to www.fiskateers.com to start from the beginning.)  Today we are celebrating Fiskars' signature color, ORANGE.  Almost everyone is familiar with Fiskars' famous orange-handled scissors, but Fiskars makes so many other wonderful products for crafting, sewing, gardening, and more.  Each stop along our Hop will feature different Fiskars' products with a big helping of ORANGE

To add a little bit more fun an excitement, I've decided to add a little candy. All hoppers who leave some love on this post and become a follower of my blog will be entered to receive a Fiskars Craft Drill. They are so versatile and fun to use. See the picture below.

For more information about Fiskars and the Fiskateer program, please visit http://www.fiskateers.com/join/.

Mixed Media - Name Tag

My college professor recently assigned me the task of making a name tag out of an index card. We are apparently going to be using them all semester. I thought I would have some mixed media fun! Below is the result.

Paper Crafters - Attempts

I decided I would take a gander at entering a few cards into a couple contests. No dice but I'm still glad I put myself out there.

Winter Project using Non-Traditional Embellishments:

Charlotte's Web Mirror

I am currently attempting to decorate our new condo. Needless to say it is a slow process but I have had some pretty great crafting adventures!

I created a mirror out of my old childhood book, Charlotte's Web. It was super easy and is now currently hanging in our guest bathroom.

Tie Dye Wedding

This is an older project of mine made during a make and take. The picture is from a friend's Tie Dye Wedding Reception. Needless to say, the project needed some vibrant colors.
